I was fortunate enough to view a Paterson Ewen retrospective at the Norman MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina and was (am) in awe of the way he manipulated his surfaces. While never dreaming of replicating his marks, it occurred to me that it could be a great deal of fun to explore the textural opportunities available through working on, and into, wood.
And it was. And it is.
